Bike in Gastein

Blossoming on the bike The Blü as home base for mountainbike holidays

As the longest of all Tauern valleys, the Gastein Valley has many biking trails on offer. Nestled in the picturesque landscape of the Hohe Tauern National Park, a diverse range of routes lead through forests, meadows, and Alpine terrain - here in Gastein, mountain bikers, e-bikers and racing cyclists happily whizz through the area.

Hotel Blü offers everything a biker's heart desires. Bike rental, bike guides, a modern bike room, a bike washing facility and much more. Ensuring your bike holiday in the Salzburger Land is as adventurous as possible. You can get on your bike at any time. Then remote Alpine pastures, exciting trails, as well as leisurely routes are waiting to be explored. From our hotel in Gastein, the region is at your disposal.

There are also single trails waiting to be discovered in the Gastein Valley. Experienced bikers will get their money's worth on the moderately steep Bertahof Trail in Bad Hofgastein. At the Fulseck in Dorfgastein there is the possibility to take your bike up the mountain in the gondola. For adventurous downhillers it's then an ascent with a view of the Gastein Valley.

Tour to the Gadaunerer Hochalm

This tour starts directly at the BLÜ. The signposted cycle path heads south out of the village centre and then along the marked path up into the Angertal valley. From there, the path runs along the Angertal stream in the direction of the Waldgasthof and, after the bridge, continues to the right on a well-laid-out, steep gravel road up to the Gadaunerer Hochalmen. When you reach the top, you can take a well-deserved break at the Feldinghütte, where you should recharge your batteries for the journey home. Ideally in the form of fresh milk! You can find the exact route here.

To the Prossau in the Kötschach Valley

To warm-up, the route starts along the Gasteiner Ache from Hofgastein to Bad Bruck as far as the Bäckerwirtsgut Inn. Here things get a bit tricky for a short while: a steep climb over the so-called Radern brings you to the former Hotel Grüner Baum. The trail becomes more leisurely again from here. It leads with a slight incline into the wildly romantic Kötschachtal valley to the Alpengasthof Prossau. Those who still haven't had enough can make a bike & hike tour out of the experience. Behind the Prossau, a trail leads up into the beautiful Kühkar, a heavenly high plateau. A real insider tip! You can find the detailed route description here.

The route allows you to gain your first impressions of riding on single trails. The ground consists mainly of forest ground. In the beginning, it is moderately steep and becomes more technical in the flow towards the end. The trail ends near the Gastein bathing lake, which is perfect on hot days. From here, the Gastein cycle path will take you directly back to the Hotel Blü in Bad Hofgastein. You can find the exact route here.
